Amerie ("Amerie," "we," "our," or "us") provides educational tools to help individuals prepare for the U.S. citizenship and naturalization process. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account Information
To create an account, we collect your username, email address, and password. We use a third-party authentication provider to manage sign-up, sign-in, and email verification securely — we do not store your password ourselves.

Practice & Progress Data
To provide interview practice and track your progress, we collect:

• Civics quiz results and history

• Interview section progress (application, speaking, reading, writing, civics)

• Your selected state of residency, congressional district, and app language

This information is synced to our cloud database so your progress carries across devices.

Voice Practice
When you use spoken interview practice, speech-to-text conversion happens entirely on your device. We do not collect or transmit your voice audio. Only the resulting text of your answer is sent to our AI grading service to generate feedback and a practice score.

Eligibility Screening
Our eligibility tool asks some sensitive questions relevant to naturalization eligibility (for example, prior contact with law enforcement, military service, or marital history). Your specific answers to these questions are stored only in your device's encrypted keychain and are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. Only a general eligibility category (for example, "likely eligible" or "needs review") and a suggested application path sync to our cloud database, so your overall status carries across your devices — the underlying answers do not.

Usage Information
We may collect limited technical information, such as app performance and crash data, to help us fix problems and improve reliability.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Create and maintain your account

• Save and sync your progress across devices

• Generate AI-powered feedback on your practice interview answers

• Suggest an eligibility category and naturalization path

• Maintain account security and respond to support requests

• Improve app reliability and functionality

AI Features

Amerie uses artificial intelligence to evaluate your spoken practice answers and generate coaching feedback. This feedback is for practice and learning purposes only. It is not legal advice, immigration advice, or a determination of your eligibility for citizenship or any immigration benefit. Only the text of your answer — not your voice recording — is shared with our AI provider for this purpose.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. To operate Amerie, we rely on a small number of trusted service providers who process data only as needed to deliver the app's functionality:

• An authentication provider, to manage account sign-up and login

• A cloud database provider, to store and sync your profile and progress

• An AI language model provider, to generate feedback on your practice answers (text only, never audio)

These providers are contractually limited to using your information to provide services to us — not for their own purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile settings within the app. Deleting your account removes your account credentials, deletes your synced profile, quiz history, and interview progress from our cloud database, and clears all locally stored data on that device, including your eligibility keychain data.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including on-device encrypted storage for sensitive eligibility answers. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Amerie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we add features. We'll update the "Last Updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
